Port Townsend After Dark

Port Townsend is a sleepy, Victorian seaport. It’s vibrancy and energy is experienced during the day as you stroll through the streets of the city’s two distinct neighborhoods, downtown and uptown, shop at local stores, dine at the restaurants, visit art galleries, and breathe in the salty Pacific Northwest air.

Like most small towns, Port Townsend closes early. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite restaurants, pubs, and activities for those who want to enjoy Port Townsend after dark.

Pourhouse

Sip craft beer on the beach at the Pourhouse. In addition to the amazing views of Puget Sound, their beer garden, The Impound Lot, has ping pong tables and bocce ball! The Port Townsend taproom has 12 beers and two ciders rotating on draft, an extensive wine list, and over 200 bottles and cans.

Opens at noon, closes by midnight. 21+ venue.

Cellar Door

Cellar Door is a cocktail bar and live music venue in historic, downtown Port Townsend that is open late till 12pm or later depending on the day of week. Sip on a “Senorita” (pictured above) with hornitos plata margarita with muddled cucumber and a tajin rim while listening to the bar’s rotating line up of daily live music from Americana, to jazz, to open mic night, and more. 21+ venue.

The Great Outdoors

With the sun setting at around 9:30pm, I find myself wanting to stay outside longer and longer. One of the most romantic and quinestial Port Townsend activities is to gather a picnic from the Food Co-op or Aldrich’s and head over to the beach or a park with your person and enjoy tasty treats and maybe a cider or two as you watch the sun go down. I recommend Fort Worden, Pope Marine Park, or Chetzemoka Park. All three have beautiful views of the water and great places to set up an intimate evening picnic.
